The Spartan Bass (Micropterus Sparticus) is a rare sub-species of Largemouth Bass. While found worldwide, it is native to the lakes and rivers surrounding the East Lansing, MI area. It is beautifully colored, with scaled hues of green and white. It grows big and mean on a steady diet of Wolverines, Buckeyes, and South Bend Irish. The Spartan Bass is highly sought after by anglers nationwide and are noted for the aggressiveness of their ‘fight’. Anglers often holler and yell out loud “GO GREEN! GO WHITE” when they hook into one.
