The Gator Bass (Micropterus Albert) is a rare sub-species of Largemouth Bass. While found worldwide, it is native to the lakes, rivers and swamps surrounding the Gainesville, FL area. It is beautifully colored, with scaled hues of orange and blue.. It grows big and mean on a steady diet of Seminoles, Bulldogs, and Volunteers. The Gator Bass is highly sought after by anglers nationwide and are noted for the aggressiveness of their ‘fight’. Anglers often do the “gator chomp” after catching this ferocious fish.
